# Fractionating column

A crude tower whose tray count is the axis. The spacing, the weld-ring seams and the heights the side draws come off are all derived from it, so more trays rebuilds the column rather than redrawing it.

## Notes

- The shell is a body of revolution, so the tray seams and the platform rings are exact from every camera, and the draws are real nozzles with real valves.
- The temperature strip is an illustrated gradient and the flash zone a marker on it. Nothing computes a flash, a separation, a composition, a temperature or a rate.

## Usage

```tsx
import { FractionatingColumn } from "@/components/ui/fractionating-column"
<FractionatingColumn trays={18} cut={2} behavior="run" />
<FractionatingColumn heat={0.8} trays={8} interactive onHeatChange={setHeat} />
```

## Props

| name | type | default | description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `heat` | `number` | — | Controlled heat into the column, 0 to 1. It moves the flash zone, and stops the loop. |
| `behavior` | `"run" | "swing" | "static"` | `"run"` | A steady case with a slow drift, or the column pushed from one cut point to another. |
| `trays` | `number` | `14` | Trays in the shell, clamped to 6–24. Sets the spacing and the seam count. |
| `cut` | `number` | `1` | Which side draw is running, 0 lightest: naphtha, kerosene, diesel, gas oil. |
| `showCircuits` | `boolean` | `true` | The overhead drum and reflux line, and the reboiler at the bottom. |
| `interactive / onHeatChange` | `boolean / (heat: number) => void` | — | Drag or arrow-key the heat, and watch the flash zone move. |
| `view` | `"plan" | "front" | "profile" | "iso"` | `"front"` | Where the camera stands. One column, four projections: straight down, straight on, side elevation, or three-quarter from above. |
| `animate` | `boolean` | `true` | Off parks the machine at phase and stops rendering. A reduced-motion preference does the same. |
| `paused` | `boolean` | `false` | Freeze where it stands. |
| `phase` | `number` | `0` | Seconds of offset, so a row of machines breaks step. |
| `variant` | `"solid" | "outline" | "blueprint" | "wire"` | `"solid"` | How the machine is painted. Geometry never changes between variants. |
| `size` | `"xs" | "sm" | "md" | "lg" | "xl" | number` | `"md"` | Rendered width in pixels, or a step on the scale. |
| `color` | `string` | `var(--robot-shell)` | Body panels — the colour the machine reads as. |
| `accent` | `string` | `var(--robot-accent)` | Status colour: tip light, live tool, readouts. |
| `metal` | `string` | `var(--robot-metal)` | Bare machined parts: collars, bolts, tool bodies. |
| `dark` | `string` | `var(--robot-dark)` | Cast joints, base, shadow side. |
| `palette` | `Partial<RobotPalette>` | — | Override any subset of roles at once, including glow and grid. |
